How to get to Masera Airfield:

Map

by Road:

Masera is easily reached by road. Terrific landscapes and breathtaking views make the road trip an occasion for a very pleasant car or motorcycle ride.

Coming from the south, drive along A26 highway towards Gravellona Toce, where it seamlessly connects with the SS33 State Road. This will take you all the way to Masera: take the Masera/Valle Vigezzo exit (just past the Domodossola exit), then follow the road until the first urban area. You will start noticing signs pointing towards the Aviosuperficie (Airfield): cross the bridge to the left, drive past the big church and take the road on the left by the belltower, along via Paolo Ferraris and past the soccer fields; just before a bend of the road and the Heliport, you will notice a gravel road on the left with another "Aviosuperficie" signpost. Follow it for a few hundred meters, pass underneath the flyover bridge and turn right. We'll be right there!

For those of you coming from Switzerland, two options:
from Canton Ticino and the East, drive along the stunning SS337 road of Centovalli and Valle Vigezzo, all the way from Locarno to Masera, and from there follow the instructions detailed above.
from Wallis and the North, follow the amazingly beautiful Simplon Pass road and drive downhill through the Gondo Gorges and Val Divedro until you exit the long tunnel and find yourself in the Domodossola plateau. This is now the SS33 State Road towards Milan. Take the Masera/Valle Vigezzo exit and get to Masera by the big church. Hence follow the instructions above.

Approximate distances:
from Milano Nord A8 toll station: 120Km
from the A4/A26 junction (coming from Torino or Alessandria): 100Km
from Locarno: 40Km
from Brig: 65Km
